Pam and I relocated from northern California to Colorado Springs in December of 1993.  During the period of time when we were visiting the area and house-hunting we met Alan Wilaby of The Shields Corporation.

Alan spent a lot of time with us helping us become familiar with different neighborhoods and helping us decide whether to buy an existing home or build a home.  Much of this time was invested in good faith by Alan; we did not sign a contract to be represented by him until some time later.  During this time we talked to several other local Realtors; it was obvious that Alan’s expertise and professionalism was far above the norm.

We eventually decided to build a home which necessitated finding a short-term rental during construction.  Alan found an ideal rental for us in one day – in a very tight rental market.  We moved into the rental and continued to work with Alan to find a lot and a builder with whom we felt comfortable.  During this time we were getting settled and in need of any number of local services – Alan was able to direct us to Colorado Springs merchants that he knew to be reliable.

We eventually began construction and worked through the many issues and questions that come up while building a house.  Alan was involved throughout the process; his knowledge of construction and local business practices saved us a great deal of time and uncertainty.  We have now been living in our home for a year.  Our experience in building a home was a fun and exciting, in contrast to many of the horror stories we have heard from other people in the area.  Alan’s help and advice along with an excellent builder – whom Alan recommended – made our building experience a success.

Alan and his wife Marge have been most gracious in helping us feel at home in Colorado Springs before, during, and after our move.  We do not hesitate to recommend Alan as an outstanding professional in his field.
